Western Classical guitar is a six string chordophone. There\u2019s a good chance that you\u2019re familiar with steel string or electric guitars. Classical acoustic guitar differs from its steel stringed cousins in a few key ways:<\/p>\n

  1. The strings on a classical guitar are nylon.<\/li>\n
  2. Classical guitarists play, for the most part, with their fingers \u2014 finger picking \u2014 rather than with a pick (plectrum).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Despite the classical in the name, classical guitars don\u2019t have to be used to play art (classical) music. All genres are playable on nylon string guitars but with a difference of tone\/timbre and impact.<\/p>\n
