“We are limited to Bollywood Music in India and with all great inspirational respect to Bollywood Music, Guitar domain is not even a starting point at Bollywood i.e. playing some few seconds pieces is not even 1% of Guitar music depth. I would find it unfortunate and victimizing of a professional scope as a guitarist in Bollywood but to me it’s not worth it”
“I have heard so many foreign guitarists since my childhood, having plethora of albums, inspiring me to various moods of Love, Life but none Indian Guitarist so far who gave his guitar albums except playing Bollywood tones, so it’s my long dream to be able to establish India’s Guitar tone to the Global Community via this title concept that says “Indian Guitaroo” say Kapil Srivastava (the Guitarist)
This Delhi born Guitarist, who has led more than 5000+ Guitar fanatics worldwide, is also recognized as one of India’s leading corporate music educationist. Author of 5 Famous Guitar books & founder of guitarmonk schools, he researched and produced genre of ‘Ragas on Guitar’ and serving it to the Students globally.
“Why I named it Indian Guitaroo is because of lots of reasons and one is that Indian music is diversified and richer. Musically speaking being an Indian is an extreme proud; I could feel that I was able to add lots of flavors and feeling of Indianism in my album. I’ve experimented lots of genres in these guitar albums, from ragas on guitar to playing blues variations and then going to various syncopated arrangements” says Kapil
As a guitarist, Kapil has a strong command in plectrum guitaring style and is also well versed with finger picking and blues style. Kapil’s guitaring has an independent tone and his musical knowledge is a blend of Western Classical, Indian Classical, Blues and Pop guitaring.
On asking why he released album under his own company ‘Guitarmonk Records’ Kapil says -
“I have worked in several record label as Sa Re Ga Ma, HMV, T-Series, Doordarshan etc. but record label industries are hardly helping any artists with Royalties where as Guitarmonk is already a stronger platform via our huge students and subscriber base.
Kapil has performed guitar at various podiums besides plenty of Album works with Sa Re Ga Ma HMV, T-series and other record labels. Also to note his Title Guitar Track contribution in upcoming Bollywood Movie ‘Dubai Returns’ (starring Irfan Khan). His famous Guitar Albums are – Indian Guitaroo Series, Ragas on Guitar, and the Tribute to music legends
