Guitarmonk brings Diploma Course in Bollywood Guitaring for the first time in the history of music education.

Kapil Srivastava (Founder of Guitarmonk) on the philosophy and attributes of the program: As a guitar specialty college for more than a decade now and observer of the professional demands of hospitality industry, we felt a need to launch this unique genre of guitar as a separate study. This genre is a specialty program on Bollywood and needs separate attention for development.

The objective of this program:  To specialize musicians and music lovers in Bollywood Guitaring; Upgrade and Qualify them to a new genre and character and unlock various professional streams for them.

Inspiration and Reason to bring out this program: (a) The quality of Bollywood music, unlike other established styles such as Irish, Western Classical, Rock, Jazz, Blues etc, has given a totally different flavor, identity, outlook and individuality to the instrumental Guitar.  Indian Bollywood music is not only a rich source of entertainment but altogether an independent style of its own origin, very different and unmatched with western styles. The great ambassador late Sh. Burman Da (the legendary R.D. Burman) gave Guitar Instrument a totally new style, approach and extreme popularity in the Indian Culture. The famous tunes of Karz, Hum Kisi Se Kam Nahin, Dam Maro Dam, Teesri Manzil etc. still inspire and challenge many beginners. Despite all other styles, particularly in case of India, Spanish Guitar is the most known and adapted for its popularity in the Bollywood Industry and popular music.

(b) Indian music as a rich source:  Indian music is a great treasure with variety of moods and infinite content.  It offers tremendous scope for learning and exploration to a guitarist. Today Indian popular music has evolved as an Independent style to be played on the guitar. It offers the richest content that can be played limitless and solo and matchless to any global guitar genre so far, which is a great value missed by many guitarists globally.

(c) As a premium guitar college, we feel it’s our duty to offer formal education on this popular music genre application in guitar and represent it at par with other western genres of music. Needless to say, it would add-on more skill, value, content, repertoire and creativity to existing guitarists’ current platforms.

(d) The course is also beneficial to other instrument players like piano, flute, violin etc.

(e) And lastly, it’s not easy indeed and that’s why it demands a separate kind of commitment by seekers, bordering on devotion.
